A copper mining town, Burchell Lake had two lives. The first began in 1901 but lasted only four years. The second began in 1956 and lasted nine years until 1965 during which time miners produced $28 million worth of copper. It was then copper prices declined and made operations unprofitable. The town closed leaving large executive homes, a school, a baseball diamond and smaller homes for workers. The townsite remains abandoned. Submitted by: Henry Chenoweth
