There are two Daltons; one called Dalton Station and the other Dalton Mills. The former was about eighteen miles further west from Nicholson along the Canadian Pacific Railroad. The latter was about three miles south of Dalton Station along the Shakwamkwa River. Both were mill towns. Dalton Mills was the larger of the two townsites with thirty-six homes, a church, school, and a two-story bunkhouse for mill workers. The mill burned in 1949 and the operation was moved to Dalton Station. When the mill at Dalton Station burned in 1979, both towns became ghost towns. Submitted by: Henry Chenoweth
