| The CNR construction crews laid tracks north from Hampton and south from Canora in 1911. When the tracks met, rail to rail, one of the workmen proclaimed, "That was well done !" Thus the name Donwell.By 1964, Donwell's hamlet won a provincial certificate for cleanliness.This community that obviously survived the drought and depression of the 30's was the childhood home of Hon.
