Troy's post office was established August 5, 1901 and discontinued September 15, 1910. Troy was known as a model mining camp due to its decision to exclude alcohol altogether. Troy had a school, assay laboratory, boardinghouse, store, hospital, union hall and reading room and much more. Troy even had a municipal water system. About 200 people lived here. Today the site is occupied by a private ranch.
