Although there was some mining, Arbourville was best known for another reason. Its reputation was based upon having the only brothel in the Monarch district. While other towns were busy and progressing, the parlor house was the main attraction in Arbourville and attracted customers from far and wide. In later years after all had left the town except a Frank Gimlet, the town is more remembered now for his efforts to rename the snow capped mountains that surrounded the town. Being the only resident for so many years, Gimlet thought he possessed the right to name the mountains. He decided to name them the Ginger Peaks after his favorite movie star, Ginger Rogers. His campaign reached all the way to the White House. The President replied sympathetically but declined saying it would too expensive to change maps and other geographical material. The town has long faded into history. Submitted by Henry Chenoweth.
