Baltimore was a prosperous and attractive mining community but is one of least known. Just off the main highway east of Tolland are the ruins of the old town that demonstrate it once was a large community. It had a two-story hotel and an opera house that had some of the top shows of its time. It also had a lavish social club name the Baltimore Club.
