DRESDEN

NAME: Dresden
COUNTY: Poweshiek
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 6
CLIMATE: It's Iowa just wait it'll change
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Nothing left of town
COMMENTS: The town was just east of where State hyway 21 and county road F52 intersect
REMAINS: The cemetery. A few newer houses stand where the town once was.
Dresden was platted in 1856, there was a general store among other buildings. The town was "moved" a mile east in the late 1880's when the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad came through. The town of Dresden quickly became uninhabited. As a little kid in the 1980's I remember seeing that there was still a small out building standing but it has long since been torn down. The only thing that remains is the Dresden cemetery, locally know  as "Eyeball cemetery"
