PIONEERVILLE

NAME: Pioneerville
COUNTY: Boise
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 6
CLIMATE: Cool winter and summer.
BEST TIME TO VISIT:
Anytime.
COMMENTS: North of Boise.
REMAINS: A few mining remnants.
Called the Boise Basin, a number of mining camps came into being in the area and Pioneerville was the first of any importance. Located off of highway 21 north of Boise, Pioneerville was one of those towns that was here today and gone tomorrow. Hostile Indians were one problem but the main problem to its survival was the ores quickly ran out. It's a place to go if one hasn't seen a dredge still in its place in the stream where it was used years ago. Submitted by Henry Chenowith.
