Orginally this was a small manufacturing village. There were several mills here due to its location along the banks of the Quinnebaug river. After the flood of 1955, the area bacame part of a flood control project and I beleive this is when the mills were torn down, although I may be worng on that. There is now a picnic area along the river operated by the Army Corps of Wngineers, and if you spend the time walking along the river you will find many foundations as well as the bed of the Southern New England railroad, the railroad which was never finished through this area. There is also a one room schoolhouse shich has been converted into a residence in the area. Submitted by: Paul Roy
