COMMENTS: Located on US2, between Bessemer and Wakefield (no longer on maps.) REMAINS: The only significant building is the abandoned high school.

Verona was a mining town, and located on the C&NW RR lline; it appears to have been founded in the early years of the 20th century; its post office was established in 1906 (at which time it had a population of about 50). By WWI, its population was over 300; decline appears to have set in the 1940s, and the post office was closed in 1953. Submitted by: Kurt Wenner
