NAME: Reedville
COUNTY: Franklin
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 4
CLIMATE: snow in winter, hot in summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT: any
COMMENTS: There are some residents and a church still bears the name of Reedville Baptist Church. The church is still in use today.
REMAINS: There are the remians of an old log schoolhouse. Not much is actually left just a few timbers and a stone with the names and dates of some teachers there.
We looked into the town on the internet and found that it used to be a mining town in the area of what is now the Meramec Conservation area. Numerous old pits can be found further down a foot path after you pass through the school. Aparently, when the mines closed down the town started to slide and only the poor resided there. This was around the turn of the century as far as I can tell from the info found at the Union library. Submitted by: Micah and Tonya Schwanitz
