GRANITE

NAME: Granite
COUNTY: Granite
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 4
CLIMATE: Cool winter and summer.
BEST TIME TO VISIT:
Anytime.
COMMENTS: Look for the vault.
REMAINS: Many remnants.
One of the added benefits of a visit to Granite is the view. Located so close to the top of a mountain, the view is somewhat spectacular. Gemstones were the source of Granite's riches. Sapphires and other gems were first discovered in 1892 and are still being found as they were over a hundred years ago. Some original buildings still stand including the vault of the bank in Granite. The bank building itself is no more but the vault still stands. Submitted by Henry Chenowith.
