1866 Elias Gilmore, his son and friend took a homestead and erected dugouts and log houses on the Blue River in section 7 & 8 of West Blue twp. originaly called Blue Valley it was the only center of its kind in York Co. Had a post office, general store, 2 churhes, and a blacksmith shop, 1866 the post office opened. At one time the prosperous Blue Valley was considered for the RR but that did not happen and the town died. In 1878 funds were raised for a church and in 1879 Bishop Milton Wright the father or Orville and Wilbur Wright came and dedicated the church Submitted by: Carol McKenzie
