CHICO. 12 mi N of Abbott and 22 mi E of Maxwell. Chico, name, means 'small' in Spanish, but it also used to ba an abbreviation or nickname for 'franisco'. In NM, the word chico is identified with green corn, soaked in water, and heated in an oven overnight.
