MAES. Ranching commumnity 36 mi E of Las Vegas. The earliest recorded member of the Maese family was Juan Maese, who was in NM as early as 1631. Settlers with this name left when the Pueblo Indians rebelled in 1680, and members of the family returned in 1693, after the Reconauest.
