ALABAMA MINING DISTRICT

NAME: Alabama Mining District COUNTY: Elko ROADS: 4WD GRID: 1 CLIMATE: Moderate temperature, cold/snow winter BEST TIME TO VISIT: Summer through Fall

COMMENTS: Located 10 miles southeast of Contact. Completely abandoned. REMAINS: Headframes, collapsed buildings, many stone ruins.

District was established in 1871 around Blanchard Mountain. Many small mines worked during the next 20 years. Gradually absorbed by the Contact district.
