Jacksonville was a water stop on the Bullfrog-Goldfield Railroad and was active from November 1906 to January 1928. The water stop was in the middle of the hot, dry Sarcobatus Flat. Steam engines were in danger of overheating and the need for water led to the establishment of a number of water stops similar Jacksonville throughout the flat. When the Bullfrog-Goldfield Railroad folded in January 1928, Jacksonville was no longer needed. Nothing at all remains.
