PINE CREEK

NAME: Pine Creek
COUNTY: Nye
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Pretty scenery.
REMAINS: One building.

Pine Creek was a stage stop on the Belmont-Austin stage line from the 1860s to the early 1880s when a small ranch and a few other buildings existed at the site. Although the Belmont-Austin stage route was rerouted through Jefferson, Pine Creek has been maintained as a ranch ever since it was first established. The original stage building and ranch headquarters remained standing until the early 1970s, when it was destroyed by fire. Today only one of the original buildings remains at one Creek. Nearby Pine Creek Campground is one of the more picturesque campgrounds in Nevada and offers hiking and great fishing opportunities.
