Pueblo was first formed in 1862 shortly after discoveries were made in nearby Park Canyon. The site was soon abandoned as nothing of worth was found. But the town came back to life in 1905 when a wandering prospector found a skeleton of a man next to one of the two streams near the old Pueblo townsite. An old gold pan was lying next to the dead man. The prospector panned the dirt and it assayed a $5,000 a ton. Within a few weeks a camp of sixty tents had sprung up. By 1906 the population had risen to almost 500. Unfortunately for Pueblo the veins were very shallow and had been worked out by the next summer. The town emptied as fast as it had filled and within weeks the site was completely abandoned. Not much of Pueblo remains. A few dilapidated wood buildings still struggle to stand.
