The camp at Silverton opened during 1921 and closed in 1922. The Silverton mine was actually discovered in 1914 but nothing much was done. A new strike was made in 1921 and a small camp quickly formed. By June some frame buildings were already replacing the tents. However, by the spring of 1922 the ore pockets had completely disappeared and operations stopped. No other activity has taken place since. Silverton’s buildings were relocated and today only foundations exist to mark the site.
