SPANISH SPRING

NAME: Spanish Spring
COUNTY: Nye
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Pretty scenery.
REMAINS: One Cabin.

Spanish spring was an important stage stop on the Pioneer stage line’s Tonopah-Manhattan run. Established in 1905, the stage stop provided water to those about to make the tough climb over the mountains to booming Manhattan. The stage line was abandoned in 1907 after the station was completely destroyed by fire. Only one stone cabin and some scattered wood remains mark the site. Do not plan on finding any drinking water at Spanish Spring.
