VYA

NAME: Vya
COUNTY: Washoe
ROADS: 2WD Summers only, 4WD winter
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Cool winters; warm summers
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime
COMMENTS: To reach Vya, head east out of Cedarville CA on CA-299, which is paved to the border, and good quality dirt after that; at the first major intersection, head north (another dirt road); the total distance from Cedarville is about 22 miles. No Cell or internet service here
REMAINS: Two wooden buildings.
Vya was a small ranching hamlet; from appearances, it died in the 1920s or so; the nearby ranch owner claims one of the buildings was the school and the other the post office but I have my doubts; any additional information would be appreciated. Submitted by: Kurt Wenner
