This little town shut down in 1959 after nearly 82 years of mining operations in the area. At least $20,000,000 in gold was taken from the area during this period. There is so much to see in the Trojan area that makes it well worth the time and effort to visit. The best way to get to Trojan is to drive along US 85 south from Lead to the Terry Peak Ski Slope and Trojan Road then north to Trojan. Both sides of the valley are full of mines and old railroad beds. Once in the Trojan area, there are numerous other ghost towns that sprang up with the mines that make for a most interesting day. .
