COMMENTS: From Hwy 290 at Paige,TX take FM 2104 south to FM 2239, turn left on FM 2239 and go about 1/4 mile, turn left and go about 1/4 mile, turn right and the lane leads to the cemetery. The cemetery contains the remains of early Grassyville settlers and 8 CSA solders.
REMAINS: Methodist Cemetery
Grassyville, Texas was founded around 1850 by German settlers in the northeast corner of Bastrop County Texas. A methodist church was founded in 1856. In 1877 a post office was established. In 1884 Grassyville had only a population of 75. This agricultural community boasted two churches, a steam gristmill, a cotton gin, and a district school. The post office dimised in 1906.The district school was in operation untill 1933. From 1939 to 1990, population estimates for Grassyville remained at fifty.
