Miners Basin, sometimes known as just "Basin" is just East of Moab at the 10,000 foot level of Mount Waas. Copper was discovered here in 1888 but a mining district was not established until 1898. During that same year, the town of Miners Basin developed and eventually reached a populaiton of 75-80 people. There were 2 saloons and restaraunts, a blacksmith, hotel, post office, miners cabins and more here. By 1908 there were only a few families left. The mines barely reached 50-150 feet. Today, there are a few buildings left and some remnants of the mines.

for the morning sun to warm it up.
