My sister and I stopped at Frisco in March while visiting some of Utah's national parks.
When you pull up to Frisco's roadside marker, there is one dirt road leading off to the right and one leading off to the left. On the left-hand road, we eventually encountered a rope "gate" blocking the road, with a No Trespassing sign hanging from it. We could see the mining remains tucked against the hillside, but decided to see where the right-hand road led.
Following that road, we ran into a sign which, due to weather and age, no longer says anything. Just after the sign, a dirt road on the right leads to a very spread-out site, with charcoal kilns above and a wooden structure, stone remains and lots of cool, rusted metal equipment laying around below, between the tufts of weeds and brush. (I'm sure someone else on this site could tell you what the equipment was used for, but I just love the way the stuff looks and photographs.)
We had only planned to stay there for an hour or so, since it was just a roadside stop, but we ended up staying there for about 3 hours (first because of the numerous photo opportunities, and second because my sister locked the keys in the car, and it took us about an hour to jimmy it open).
Anyway, I'd figure on a couple of hours. It's a great spot. I think I ended up with 4 rolls of film from just that site. There is minor spraypaint vandalism and some trash inside the wooden structure (there was even a Christmas tree inside one of the kilns), but mostly it seemed in pretty good shape.
I would also e-mail Cat and Ripley, who I just noticed posted a message here about the site. They had a slightly different experience than my own. If you haven't already, also check out the the information & photos about the spot posted on this site, and on Cat's site (address posted in her message here.)
Have a great time!
