I went into Delamar in April of this year (see my photos on the Delamar page). The roads were in fine shape and 4x4 was not necessary, though as a matter of habit I put my truck into 4x4 whenever I'm off pavement. A friend of mine who was driving his Ford Explorer kept his SUV in 2WD the entire dirt road distance without trouble. As mentioned in the other reply, the last mile is the roughest and had one climb (the climb starts at the Delamar district cemetery) of medium steepness and a distance of approximately a quarter mile. From the looks of the road, it appears that Lincoln County maintains the road at least annually.
