It took me 8 hours. I took my time, rested when I felt like it, went with a few buddies, all of whom are 40-something and overweight (I'm included in that group!) or 50-something and overweight. Actual walking time was probably 6� hours. It took me 2 hours to walk back down.

There is water at the bottom and midway at Brewery Spring. There is water at Panamint City, a couple of the cabins have water piped to sinks.

If you park at Chris Wicht Camp (which is the only reasonable parking spot at the bottom of the canyon), be sure to bring a couple of 12-packs of beer, Pepsi or some firewood for George and Rocky Novack, who live at the camp. This will insure that your vehicle will stay unmolested while you are at Panamint City.
