Sumpter Oregon is a great jumping off point for exploring the Ghosttowns in the area. The photo oppotunities are awesome. You can visit Granite, Greenhorn, Bourne, Whitney and Sumpter. Most of these towns are probably to be considered semi-ghosts as they have structures used as summer cabins or very few residents. The town of Sumpter, a Historic mining town, has all the services to make your stay a rewarding experience. Snowmobiles can be rented, and the local snowmobile club has produced a map of our over three hundred miles of groomed trails to explore.
