: what would be considered the top 10 ghost towns of all time? Please email me with this info - I'm doing a report and need this info asap.

That's an interesting question, but may be difficult to answer, since you didn't specify whether you meant "true ghosts" (completely vacant), or not. There is some debate on places like Bodie, CA being considered a "true
ghost", since rangers do actually live there to
guard against vandals. Did you want top 10
most popular? Most ghostly? Most photogenic?
"..of all time"...could be places in the 15, 16 and 1700's that no longer exist? And what about Taos, NM & St. Augustine, FL., two of the oldest
settlements in the US?
Presuming any combination of the above to be
acceptable I submit the following David Letter-
man format: (Drum roll please) #10-Deadwood, SD; #9-Central City, CO; #8-Dodge City, KS; #7-Georgetown/Silver Plume, CO; #6-Leadville, CO; 5-Tombstone, AZ; #4-Virginia City, NV; #3-Virginia City, MT; #2-Bannack, MT; and #1-BODIE, CA.
Hopefully, others will submit their opinions on this
matter, then you can go from there.
bob.
