: 1) Yes, I know Mina was mostly known as a rail junction,
: but there was a heck of a lot of mining around there
: too, and I think the place definitely qualifies as a ghost
: town or at least a semi-ghost.
Reply: Semi-ghost, yes. Ghost town? No. But interesting none of the less. Last time I rolled through the place was in definite need of a makeover. Lots of small, minor and little known ghosts all around her.
: 2) Why is there no info on this site about Bullfrog other than
: one picture? Bullfrog was also discovered by Shorty Harris and
: named after a nugget that supposedly looked like a bullfrog. When
: Rhyolite sprang up a few hundred yards away most people moved their
: homes (usually miner's tents and shacks) to Rhyolite.
Reply: Sounds like good candidate to add photos. Not much left of Bullfrog townsite except Red Barn, regional cemetery and the Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad grade. The mining over the past decade has removed Ladd Mountain and created a large monstrosity out in the flats (which has also affected Rhyolite). I've got some photos of the cemetery and some of the RR grade, so I guess I had better send them in!
