Mountain Mill was a lumber camp in an isolated location 60 miles west of Fort Macleod at the confluence of Mill Creek and Castle River. Its population never exceeded 75 and was composed mostly of lumberjacks. The settlement did have a boarding house, store, saloon, an office building, and log shacks for the lumberjacks. Mountain Mill existed for only twenty years, from 1880 to 1900, when demand for lumber fell to almost nothing. Today little remains.
