REMAINS: All of the shops and houses have been removed but the old school still stands as a private residence. |
| Among its earliest buildings was a school built
in 1858. History says Lumley’s residents clearly enjoyed life. They
held dances in the second floor of the general store. The held debates on
current subjects of interest often providing the evening’s entertainment.
The town had a post office, several blacksmiths, a woolen products factory,
a shoemaker, carpenters and coopers. By the early 1900s, Lumley began to
fade given modern technologies. |
