Most believed Mickleton to be situated near the Murray mine in Sudbury, and they are right but partially. While The British Nickel Co. had its smelter here, no town site ever existed here. The Whistle Mine was also named Nickleton and was on the CNOR, not AER. A townsite containing nearly 250 residents was established, and a post office opened in 1910 with the name Nickleton (Whistle Mine after 1913) and closed in 1926. British Nickel Company went bankrupt in 1924, and Inco has since owned the site. The smelter on the AER was dismantled and scrapped. Submitted by: Yvan P.Charbonneau
