A railroad stop and a ranching settlement. Adamana had a post office from 1896 to 1910, and then again from 1910 to 1969.

At one time this was known as the "Gateway to the Petrified Forest". The Sante Fe Railroad stopped at the Adamana Hotel and passengers spent the night before going by touring car to the Forest. There were about 30 families living here at the time, there was a trading post (now our home), a post office, a school and a store. When the gas plant moved in across the railroad tracks and the Interstate 40 passed Adamana by, the residents began to move away. The hotel burned down in 1965. The fire destroyed some irreplaceable treasures, including the hotel register which was signed by such people as Teddy Roosevelt and the King of Spain. Now, all that is left of Adamana is three buildings and a mobile home. -- Submitted by Lee Jackson.

The litlle comunity Adamana, was named after sheep rancher Adam Hanna, and was a railroadstation from wich tourists started on their trip to Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. Fred Harvey's car drive those adventur travelers tru those beautiful places and brought them back to the train again. The next stop was in Williams, 30 miles west of Flagstaff, where they changed the train and continued to Grand Canyon. Bobby Zlatevski
