Johnson's post office was established April 5, 1900 and discontinued November 29, 1929. Johnson was the successor to nearby Russellville. By 1925 there were 1000 people there mining copper. Then, in the mid 1920's, the price of copper dropped severely and the mining ended. Today , the ruins seen in the ghost town books are no more as current mining has destroyed them all.
