CLIMATE: Cold winter with snow, cool summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT:

COMMENTS: On Cottonwood Creek.
REMAINS: Traces.
Some gold was discovered here as early as 1860, but it wasn't until 1874 that a rich strike was made and Harvard City had its beginning. The town also became an important supply center with the completion of Cottonwood Pass over the Divide. It flourished during the 1870s with a post office, a large dancehall, saloons and other businesses. Cottonwood Pass was abandoned in 1882 when Independence Pass was built over the Divide and Harvard City began to decline. No one lives there now but there are traces of the once bustling town.
