Pagosa Junction was a railroad town on Denver and Rio Grande Railroad, San Juan Branch. This was the connecting point to the Pagosa Springs branch or the RR. The town contains a water tower, a siding, and a narrow gauge hopper car. There is a truss bridge here and there was general store prior to 1996. A short distance to the East is a major railroad truss bridge visible from CR 500. The D&RG RR operated this branch during the years 1880-1967. It was the connection between Chama, NM and Durango, NM. Submitted by: Douglas Matthes
