GRID: 3
CLIMATE: Hot in spring, summer, and fall, moderate to cold otherwise
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime
COMMENTS: Located south of US192 between Holopaw and Melbourne. Currently has about twelve homes and a forestry tower. Considered a semi-ghost due to industry still in operation.
REMAINS: old houses and barns
Deer Park used to be the western terminus of the Union Cypress Company Railroad and was heavily involved in lumber and turpentine. It had a hotel, a school, and from 1915 to 1955 also a post office. Deer Park was never a big town, but the discontinuance of the railroad in the early 1930s has gradually decreased the population even further. Today the lumber mill is still in business and the area has a game hunting preserve and vast ranch and cattle lands. Submitted by: Jim Pike
