Stanton was founded in 1881 by E.Stanton Perrin.Perrin in an effort to promote the town invested 56,000.00 dollars in a large lumber mill and a steamer to plough the waters of Lake Weir.In the mid 1880's there were about 200 residents,2 general stores,brick yard and a shingle manufact. plant.The town of Stanton died out just after the turn of the centry.
