JORDAN

NAME: Jordan
COUNTY: Boone
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 5
CLIMATE: Snow in winter, hot in summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Spring, summer, or fall
COMMENTS: Jordan is easy to get to. Just 3 miles east of Boone on a well maintained county road. It is located right next to the railroad tracks. It has a large grain elevator, which is visible from a distance.
REMAINS: Large grain elevator, a few residents.
Although Jordan is not completely a true "dead" ghost town, it could easily be classified as a "partially" dead ghost town. Jordan never was a big town. It has a very sad story, however. In the 1970's, the town was almost completely destroyed by a fatal F-5 tornado. Since then, there have been only a few resdients. Jordan is right next to the busy Union Pacific Railroad Tracks. It boasts a large grain elevator, but otherwise that's the only life this town sees besides the trains. Submitted by: Lara Cady
