Up Indian Creek from the Salmon River road is the old gold mining settlement of Ulysees. Claims were filed as early as 1895 but not until 1901 was there much activity. Mining operations were largely financed by stockholders of the Kittie Burton and Ulysees mines who also built the Kittie Burton Mill. Cable tramways connected both mines to the mill. The mill has since collapsed into a pile of lumber but there are a few original cabins still standing.
