COMMENTS: Located along scenic Nebraska Hwy 2. REMAINS: A few businesses and a newer post office.

Whitman saw the arrival of the railroad and the first local post office in 1887. Whitman's stockyard served as a cattle shipping center for ranchers from surrounding areas in Grant county. This old storefront and a handful of newer, occupied buildings remain. Submitted by: Marty Wilke
