WATCHUNG VILLAGE

NAME: Feltville, Glenside, Watchung Village
COUNTY: Union?
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 2
CLIMATE: Snow in Winter, Hot in Summer, Nice in Spring and Fall
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Fall or Spring
COMMENTS: This is a really neat little village located in the middle of Watchung Reservation State Park, Right off of Rt. 22 in Scotch Plains, NJ. The area has about 20 little houses some camp cabins and a larger hall of some sort. Everything is still there but do not drive in and the roads are paved but do not drive in as the police are not too happy about people checking the village out by driving.
REMAINS: Almost the whole village of 15-20 buildings.
Built in 1845, this 10 building settlment was originally known as Feltville after New York businessman David Felt. It later became a resort for cityfolk and changed its named to Glenside Park By 1916 urbanization had overrun the area and it was no longer a "get away". .Submitted by: Nicholas Campagna
