Another short-lived mining camp was Blake’s Camp. The camp formed in 1905 after gold was discovered in a dry wash west of Golden Arrow. The excitement brought a flock of prospectors to the area and Blake’s Camp soon had a population of twenty-five. The ore assayed at only $15.00 per ton and soon the camp was a memory. It wasn’t until 1922 that new discoveries were made that brought people back to the area. But by July only one mine was being worked and all interest in the district had faded. No other activity has taken place since and only some wood scraps mark the site.
