BURRO

NAME: Burro
COUNTY: Lander
ROADS: 4WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Interesting country.
REMAINS: A few stone ruins.

Burro was one of the smaller mining camps that sprang up during the spring of 1906. A camp of about 25 formed and mined until the ore vein ran out before the year was over. The only activity after 1907 took place in 1932 when an unsuccessful attempt was made to mine quicksilver. The district has been abandoned ever since. Only a couple of stone ruins remain and are quite difficult to locate.
