CLEAR CREEK MINING DISTRICT

NAME: Clear Creek Mining District
COUNTY: Nye
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Was much at one time.
REMAINS: Debris.

Formed in 1907 after discoveries were made in both Clear Creek and Crane Canyons in May of 1906, the district was located opposite Ophir on the far side of the Toiyabe Mountains. During the next couple of years a large number of mines began operations but did not last given the low ore values and small deposits. By 1915 all mines had been abandoned. Today, only small mine dumps are left in the two canyons.
