Silver and gold ore was discovered in the Eden district in January 1905 at the head of Eden Creek, then known as Little Mill Creek. By the end of summer, the camp had a population of forty. But by the summer of 1907, the camp began to fade and soon only one of the two discoverers was left. He worked his find for a number of years and finally sold the property in 1921. Beginning in 1922 and lasting until the beginning of World War II, there were a number of mining companies that worked the area at different times. Eden’s remains are fairly extensive. The Eden Creek Ranch, which was occupied until recently, is at the mouth of the creek. The site is well worth the trip. Be sure you come with a full tank of gas for there are no stations close to Eden Creek.
