Sumo was the old St. Elmo camp that sprang up and died during the early days of the Belmont boom. The new camp of Sumo was formed in 1905 and had a population of forty. But it did not fair any better than its predecessor and closed in September of 1905. Only shallow shafts and wood scraps show that Sumo ever existed.
