COMMENTS: No Current Residents, only a historical site now. Not considered a town. On Texas Highway 51 between Springtown and Weatherford Texas.
REMAINS: An abandoned Church, a pavillion and monuments telling of history
Carter TX was established 1866-1867 around a flour mill on Clear Fork Creek. Many Indian raids and gunfights at Carter. Population dwindled due to its proximity to Weatherford added to by natural disasters was the demise of Carter and it was nothing but a member by the 1920's Submitted by: Phyllis Clark
